This is some extra information important to people playing Hogwarts students. If you're looking for information on prefects, Quidditch teams, etc, go to the Hogwarts Information post.
Homework
Each class will have a homework prompt for every other month, beginning in September. Each round of homework will have a separate prompt for first years, second years, etc. One homework will be open all the way until the next one is available.
Homework may come in several forms, to be determined by your professor:
Traditional RP: A typical back-and-forth RP, where you only control your character and interact with other students and the professor.
Writing prompt: A lesson in which the professor's post is the prompt, and your homework is to write a single response about what happened in the rest of the class. In this form, you may write the actions of the professor, and any NPC students in the class with you. You may also control another member's character, if you have their permission.
Essay: A short essay response to some questions posed by the professor. They may ask you to PM it to them, or they may ask you to post it in the thread.
Quiz: Exams will usually, but not always, be in the format of a quiz. Questions might be multiple choice or short answer. Your response doesn't need to address your character's actions, just their responses to the questions.
Other: Professors may get creative and ask for something else, but they will be sure to lay out the requirements in their post.
Homework Schedule:
September
November
January
April
June (Final Exams)
Grading: Homework will be graded out of 10 points. Professors may PM you your grade, or edit it into the bottom of their original post, or put grades in a new post. Homework will earn points for your house. The professor will post to the Hogwarts Information thread to make sure your points are credited to your house. Points will be awarded partially depending on your effort in writing the response, and in part how well your character actually answered any questions.
As long as you don't directly contradict major canon, you can also make things up, such as which ingredients you mix into a potion.
Homework is always optional. Your character will go on to the next grade no matter what.

Hogwarts Schedule
At Specularis, Hogwarts will have a summer break. This summer break is shortened because we know the main draw of a site will be to play a student at Hogwarts, but we want to create some realism and encourage people to RP their characters in other locations over the summer. Invite your friends to visit your hometown, go exploring in London, or a grab a portkey to a faraway place, then see how much everyone has changed when you come back to school in September!
Two weeks before the start of term and two weeks afterwards, the Hogwarts Express will be open for students to post on. You do not have to post on the Hogwarts Express; in June you can skip straight to vacation, but in August you can't post in Hogwarts until September 1st.
Hogwarts Schedule
August 17 - August 31st: Hogwarts Express to Hogsmeade Station
September 1st: Term Begins
October 12th - 21st: Hogsmeade Weekend #1
November 30th - December 2nd: Hogsmeade Weekend #2
December 23rd - December 30th: Christmas Break
February 8th - February 17th: Hogsmeade Weekend #3
May 17th - May 26th - Hogsmeade Weekend #4
June 1st - 29th: Final Exams
June 30th: Term Ends
June 30th - July 14th: Hogwarts Express to King's Cross Station
July 14th - August 16: Summer Break
We will post reminders to let you know what's coming up, and when to wrap up threads for Hogsmeade, summer break, etc.
