Age: 30
Gender: Female
Former House: Ravenclaw
Residence: During Hogwarts term she dwells in the dungeons which have been a second home to her since her own wizarding school years, despite not being a member of Slytherin house. During the summers she does not stray far, having a small, earthy dwelling on the outskirts of Hogsmeade Village.
Occupation: Potions Professor
Appearance: Standing at only 5’6” and being of dainty build, she often blends seamlessly into a crowd. Her quiet demeanor is reflected as well in her walk and stance, not wishing to draw much attention to herself. The only thing keeping her from going completely unnoticed is the bright red hair in contrast to pale white skin and green eyes. She keeps a youthful appearance, having not changed much since her own time at Hogwarts, which inadvertently keeps new students thinking she is still a 6th or 7th year until they see her at the head of their Potions class. No unique piercings or tattoos.
Personality: Megara is often quiet and reserved until she is in her element of expertise (potions) or discussing a topic she admittedly obsesses over (werewolves). Despite this, she was quite the rule breaker in her Hogwarts years due to her curiosity and thirst for knowledge. Fortunately, her demeanor and intelligence often let her go without getting caught. Although mostly not afraid to do whatever it takes in her quest for knowledge and answers, she does have a moderate fear of brooms and flying.
History: Muggle-born, her acceptance letter to Hogwarts was quite the surprise to herself and her parents. Her parents were very supportive, however, and the three of them immersed themselves into the wizarding world. Although sorted into Ravenclaw house for her intelligence, studious personality and quick wit, it was often joked that if she was not a muggle-born she would have been sorted into Slytherin for her cunning and interest in the dark arts. It didn’t take long for Meg to find her passion in Potions, a subject in which she was naturally gifted; this caused a rift in her house as she often spent most of her time in the dungeons with the Slytherins instead of her own common room. In her last couple years of schooling she became entranced with werewolves after having a close encounter with one on an unsupervised midnight stroll through the Forbidden Forest looking for potion ingredients. From there, she learned as much as she could about the creatures and actually befriended the student that had put her life at risk. This “obsession” led her to eventually brew an Animagus potion in her 7th year, which took many trips to both the Forbidden Forest and Knockturn Alley for rare ingredients. Meg brewed this potion despite the risk of becoming a half-human/half-animal creature for the rest of eternity. To the surprise of even herself, however, the potion was a success. Her theory was that if she could transform herself into a wolf, despite not being a full werewolf, she would be safe on the night of the full moons to interact and thus further her studies of werewolves. Now she is able to turn into a wolf at will, however continues to only do so during the full moons. She continued potion work and werewolf studies after her Hogwarts graduation, having a successful freelance career discovering and publishing new information on werewolves, animagi, and potions. Her publications and success caught the eye of her alma mater, and she was asked to return to Hogwarts to teach Potions after the retirement of her old professor who also gave her high praise and recommendation. She has also taken up the role of “resident werewolf caretaker” (so she calls it), becoming the go-to source for students that have become the unfortunate victim of the werewolf curse. She brews potions to help with their transitions, is a fountain of knowledge for any and all related questions, and uses her Animagi status to run with them on the full moons to make sure all is well.
